We are all aware that because something appears online doesn't necessarily mean it is correct.
A team at the University of Gothneberg made up a medical condition and uploaded two fake studies to see if Large Language Models would pick it up and use it, and they did.

It seems the AI's missed the clues in the studies that indicated the condition was fake, eg a non-existent university in an equally fake Californian city was quoted and that both studies were funded by the Professor Sideshow Bob Foundation.
