Canon know a thing or two about strong glass. It's all that experienced they've gained through making photocopiers strong enough for people to sit on and take pictures of their arse.

The sad thing about things like this are that somewhere there is a little kid with no money who would give their right arm and testicle for that lens.

I'd rather give mine away than beat it to death due to boredom.
 
That's a bit dramatic isn't it Ian? There's kids in the world who'd give their right arm for decent meal, doesn't stop us all from wasting food though.

Besides, unless he shoots into the light I bet he wouldn't see any optical difference with that lens.
 
He also said in the description that the lens in broke. I assume the AF motor has bust or something.
 
I thought I saw some bodge tape around the front of the lens. Probably holding it all together from a previous spell of boredom!
 
I just tried that method on my 100-400L it works a treat now, thanks for the link Westly.
