How to make a tripod?

Okay i really need a tripod for tomorrow, any ideas as to how to make one?

I have broom handles couple pieces of wood and some nails and some Gaffa tape

Any ideas?

For what? explain the situation better and this will help !

Height? weight to carry? How to attach camera.? One time use?
 
beanbag sitting on a table, and use self timer mode or a remote instead of pressing the button, which will move the camera.

or go buy a cheap tripod...

No point buying cheap, only will break like my last one. If i can make my own for tomorrow that will be fine. I am thinking too bits of wood pushed in to the group with another piece of wood tied to the top?
 
step ladder and beanbag if you need height... just the beanbag if you don't.

I'd rather have a tripod that breaks sometime next year than a camera broken this week.

I've a cheap Hama Star that's taken some abuse over the last five years that only cost a tenner and still does the job as the back-up tripod that lives in the car boot.

If you're passing the Titchwell area on your travels check out the tripod shop on the coast road. I picked up a very solid secondhand Velbon tripod for £40 last year and he has a good selection of used tripods (mostly aimed at the birding community for scopes).
 
Whilst some of the very best tripods are made of wood, these are highly crafted items rather than three broomhandles taped or nailed together.

Personally I would either get a decent used one from the shop referenced above, or get a cheap Hama or similar from Asda or Lidl and simply take care with it, and take as many steps as possible to get the best images - ie mirror lock up and self timer if you haven't got a cable release.
 
i got a cheap tripod about 10 years ago
i still have it and there is nothing wrong with it at all

I ain't buying it.....you've been around on here far too long to think you'll be taken seriously saying stuff like that!! :nono:

I will assume this is a legit question

Arrange your sticks like so

Then take a piece of rope...or tape ultimately, and go over under over under where the sticks meet but make sure you don't ravel the rope all the way up to the end so the sticks (the ends will serve as gaurds).

Then stand it up and you should be good to go.

Or just make this.

Trust me, my stupid-bility is still there, just yesterday i dropped my camera over a cliff on a piece of string on timer to get the shop i wanted

Skip the broom handle and tape and use some other "found objects" instead. A soda bottle makes a great combo tripod and steadicam for most cameras. If you need more ballast, step up to a 2-liter bottle instead. You can buy bottle cap mods from Amazon, but you can also make your own DIY bottle cap tripod.
