Im pretty sure that i've read that it's possible to caption images before an event in camera, could anyone tell me how to do it?

Im using a d300.

I have no idea how you would do that. But I wonder why you would want to?

I think it's called 'Image Comment' or summin like that with Nikon, it's a predetermined caption entry to IPTC data, so if your doing a wedding then you can key in "Blah & blah's wedding" and it will appear in all the caption entries until you change it.
I haven't really experimented with it to be fair and I might not get round to it, just the copyright info for me.
The details of how to use it will be in the manual though :D

As Thomas says, there's a function for adding an image comment (and with the latest firmware, you can add copyright and photographer details as well. Personally, I find it a lot easier adding such detail as a batch in Lightroom afterwards...

I shoot entertainment for a agency and the faster the images are in, the better, so having the images pre-captioned saves me a heap of time really.
