How to remove GGS Glass protector?

Mine has cracked and i now have a new one to replace it with, but whats the best way to remove and unstick the old one??

sorry to hear that, ggs sceens can be awfull and you will have to be very carefull maybe dab a cloth with some white spirit or meths and dab it on to the rubber to brake it down then carefull remove, one reason i donrt use ggs had this happen to me and it scratchedmyd300 now i use this.
alot tougher and doesnt crack like glass.

Reckon degreaser would be the best bet, stuff I use on my bike is excellent (Finish Line Citrus)
Lakeland sell something similar, not as strong and more expensive to remove those pesky sticky labels that won't come off
 
I was thinking about an ACMAXX for my X100 but didn't want to end up breaking it then having a **** of a time removing it. You reckon it's a better quality than a GGS?
 
OK, thanks for that so far, looks like im going to have to pick it off as carefully as i can..
 
You could try the dental floss method! Work it under and around the edges, pulling it backwards and forwards in a sawing motion, any residue left behind from the adhesive pad cleans off easily.
Some people suggest using a razor blade or thin stanley knife type blade to lift one corner then run around the edge with a finger nail or something similar.
Be very careful of the blade method though ( sharp metal + plastic lcd cover = scratches) and make sure the camera is warm whatever method you use.

Dental floss or fishing line, less chance of damaging the screen underneath. Just out of interest how did you manage to crack it ?

easly and it waont crack like a ggs, have had them on my k20d, k200d, k100d superx2, k7, gx20 2 d300 and a d700, and they have been very very good,

That's a very good idea, when I removed mine I used a credit card and just forced it around the seal then cleaned the residue off with MrMuscle glass cleaner using the card as a scraper, took about half an hour. I didn't scratch or damage anything but wish I had thought of your method, would've been so much easier :lol:
 
gently warm it to reduce glue tack use hairdryer low heat take your time, once glue gets warm it will pop off ok
 
Didn't even need warming on mine - dental floss or strong cotton thread to start lifting and it came clean away, just wiped a couple of bits of residue off with kitchen roll. I wouldn't recommend putting any kind of degreaser or such chemicals near the body, its not necessary. ;)
