How to - self portrait. Help please!

This could be a really silly question but....

I've got my camera set up on a tripod and am using the self-timer to shoot a self portrait but having trouble keeping myself in focus!

Are there any tips I could follow?

As it's not a tutorial I've moved it here.

My suggestion - put someone or something else in your place while you focus and compose and use a smaller aperture than you might normally for a portrait to give you more depth of field say f5.6 or f8 if you have enough light.
 
Yes I realised that a second after it had been posted, thanks for the move and the advice. I'll give it a try in daylight tomorrow :)
