As it says in the title really, I'm running Windows 7 home edition on both my pc and laptop and they are both connected to a wireless network.

I want to be able to edit my photos (either RAW or JPEG) in Lightroom on either machine and be able to see the results when I use the other.

I've currently put both computers in the same group and shared the photo folder on the dekstop to read and edit form the laptop, it's very slow though and means the desktop always needs to be on.

Is there a better way of doing this?

Sending images via a wireless network can be painfully slow, especially when you have large files. You might find it easier to use a gigabit Ethernet network to connect the two computers. If you just want to connect the two computers a simple cross over patch cable will do the trick. This is what I use to transfer from my laptop to desktop.

The other way would be to use an network storage system ( not wireless 'cos of the speed.) and store the images on that. Connection to all would be via a high speed hub .

Cheers guys - so it sounds like wireless is the issue on the speed so I'll have a look into your suggestions - the network storage approach is something I've thought of in the past and might be time to bite the bullet

Ive got a windows home server network set up, I put all the photos froma CF card on the server machine via my desktop computer and can then access them from any computer in the house. I download and upload RAW files wirelessly from the laptop and dont have any issue with speed.
If both computers are running WIN 7, I think you can create a homegroup and bypass a server altogether.
The other plus with the WHS is that both my laptop and desktop automaticly get backed up everyweek onto the server.
