Whats my first step ,i'm crap on computers ,i can manage just the basics,so i'm after some very basic pointers :D.Oh ..it's for my photos and just photos

I would probably go for a host with a good control panel that lets you design pages with a friendly interface. You won't get the most original or ground breaking site but it will be easy to set up and maintain

Think of a name then go so a website like this .. http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ and see if it is available, if so then you are ready to by the name and find somewhere to host it.

Everybody will have their own recommendations as to where to buy from and where to host but shopping around for the best deals with the support that you require would be my recommendation .... To understand the support, have a good read up on here ... http://www.plus2net.com/

Dont rush anything, do a lot of reading and try to understand the minefield you are getting into before making any steps ;)

If you are just using it for a portfolio, try Carbonmade. It looks decent, really simple and free (with no ads on yr pg). The downside is that its limited in terms of look. It suits my purposes for the moment.
Have a look :)

I can recommend Photium, its easy to use and set up, the technical support from Will is brilliant. If you need help with anything, he answers you on the same day (even on a Saturday lol).
