How to test a Canon Flash Gun

Evening All!

I've been given a Canon 580EX flash gun to try and sell, and just want to make sure its in full working order before doing so.

I just wanted to know how i would go about doing this, as i'm a Nikon man! :bonk:

The flash powers on....but thats as far as i've got!

Any help would be much appreciated!

pressing the 'pilot' button (lights up read when ready) should do a test flash, other than that i guess to 100% confirm it works (and transmits ettl data) would be to stick it on a canon camera body - there is no way of knowing otherwise... but if it fires there is a good chance it works though!

I set it to ETTL, and tested it and it seems to be working - so should be ok....

I don't really know anyone who owns a Canon local, so no thorough way of testing...

It should be working ok really then....

Where abouts in London are you? If you're anywhere close to Watford you are welcome to test it on my proper camera
