how to

If it's the family shot, in profile, you'd need each image on a separate layer. Mask the layers so that you have faces showing, reposition images to get them how you want, merge layers, adjust levels, etc.

Do you have the individual shots already?

Yes. To add to this, you can open all the images in one go "as layers" so each head is already on it's own layer. Or you could open them sequentially onto a new layer.

Then reorder the layers so the back head is at the bottom of the list. This can be done with drag and drop in the layer list.

If the heads have already all been adjusted so that the background is perfectly black, you can set the layer "mode" of all but the bottom layer, to add just the highlights, so they all shine through without the need to mask them. (Lighten or Screen mode?) And if there are any overlapping highlights, these areas can be masked later.

Now it should be possible to see and move each layer, so that they line up nicely.
