How weatherproof is my 40D?

No
Got caught in the rain a few days ago and would have loved to be able to shoot regardless but don't think my 40d or sigma 10-20 would have liked it. Has anyone tried this camera or lens combo in the rain? or can anyone suggest a waterproof cover?

Op/tech rain sleeve, inexpensive and compact enough to stuff into a bag for a rainy day without breaking the bank.

I have a 40D too, not rainproof by any means, think it simply has a little dust sealing around the battery and CF compartments and that's all.

The op/tech looks ok but the fact that you get 2 in a pack makes me think they won't last very long. are they single use?

When I have been caught out in the rain I usually just pull a cloth out of the bag and cover the camera with it and carry on shooting. Just watch out for water drops on the front element.

The op tech aren't single use, OK for occasional showers as a quick fix, I guess with the amount of rain we have you may be after something more long lasting. I seem to remember a cape type device was available which was long lasting but they were quite expensive.

Google Ewa-Marine, they have may be what you may be after

it isn't at all weatherproof apart from a seal around the battery and memory card doors.
