How would a Nikon 18-70 AFS 3.5/4.5 DX perform in comparison to a 18-200 VR?

...within the 18 - 70 range of course? Was thinking of maybe getting the 18-200 VR to replace the 18-70 AFS DX if it performs better within that range mainly as it's a very convenient lens. I also have the 70 -300 VR. Thanks in advance.

I personally think the 18-70mm has the edge, and i've owned both, but you just have to weigh up convenience against quality :)

18-70 AFS DX is better i think .Nice set up you have stick with what yoiu have

Go with the 18-70mm and 70-300mm lenses. :)

Just think why did Nikon update the 18-200VR so soon after its' release  .. that tells a lot about how good / bad it really is!

As for the 18-70 AF-S; now that's one sharp lens  .. the 70-300VR is a very good one too.

The 18-70 is a good lens especially with the 70-300VR - which was my setup until today when my 17-55 turned up

That is the only reason why I am selling this lens, sharp, well built and lightweight. Not used a 18-200 and while it sounds ideal for being out and about, have heard it can be soft.
