Had a spare hour today so decided to photograph and list all my kit, for insurance purposes. It is amazing how quickly it grows and how much it costs, I know in comparison to many others I will not have that much, however I am concerned about sharing the results with my wife, I am still trying to convince her I need just one more lens. Go on list your kit and see if you get a surprise.

My wife knows and scares her, my insured value of photographic kit is about £18,000 so much more than my car LOL.

I know there will be wildlife and sports togs who kill that total.
Just curious, why do you have so many bodies? :)

Just never sold the older ones and like new toys.

Brief overview, had a 30D (moved from a Konica Moniolta dSLR) as I was shooting sports, got asked to shoot weddings so moved to a 5D, still doing sports mainly so added a 1DmkIII, fancied a bit of video so got a 500D, that didn't cut it for video and with more weddings so grabbed a 5DmkII, was going to live abroad for a year so wanted a good mix and added a 7D so could just have the 5DmkII and 7D to cover weddings and sports with video etc.

Simple :)

My kit (when new) would be 12k. Obviously it isn't as the 1-series were bought used - so more like 5-6k. I could drive quite a nice Honda CR-V for that - given that I really don't * need * 2 bodies at the moment.

I'm just a beginner having bought my first DSLR in April. Since then I have added a good tripod and head, spare battery pack, some filters, macro extension tubes, memory cards and a bag. And Elements. So in a short space of time I have spent near £1000. Gulp!

costs me around 500 quid a year to insure my kit (18k)and 5m public liability cover

my kit,
a200, 18-70 kit - £160 s/h shutter count 4500!
75-300 minolta - free
bag - £9 ebay
Raynox 250 -£43 amazon
2 x Filters - £20 (£10 each)
lens cap for 75-300 - £1 ebay
8GB CF Card - £15 classifieds

To follow
Lowepro fastpack 200, Jessops 360 flash, 2m wired shutter cable, new strap, 2nd battery - £100

So when all arrives my kit will be worth about £350 which imo isn't bad!

try replacing it for that though

Just insured my kit today. Only a relative beginner so only up to about £2100 assuming everything was new. But when I go through my shopping list of thing I "could just do with" I can see how it can get to many times that amount.

i'd have no chance, the camera was of ebay, and I placed a bid, lost out but the winner withdrew his bid so i was lucky on that, and the free lens was also a bonus!

My kit in total is worth around £6000. Pretty scary to think I just carry that about in a backpack most of the time. Still, it's £6000 which if I sold I could make most of back.

I bought a 500d kit with 2 lenses about 2 months ago but if I add the flash, bag, cards etc and my bridge camera I'm up to about £1000 which is nothing to you lot but it's more than I paid for my last 2 cars (and I have a shogun at the moment) God I thought fishing was expensive lol

My gear seems to evolve according to what deals crop up. I know there is no way I would have gotten the 5DII without coming across it at an unmissable price. That said I've become slightly addicted to lighting modifiers at the moment and could easily spend a few hundred on them without even really justifying it properly!
