Looking to get a new one and found so many different types they do.

Just wondering what people are using and if there are any issues to buying this one here :

Hoya 77mm HRT Circular Polarising + UV Filter
This 77mm HRT combined circular polarising and UV filter uses a newly developed HRT (High Rate Transparency) film which allows approx 25% more visible light through the filter while still filtering the same amount of polarised light. Circular polarising filters are most commonly used to darken bright blue skies in landscape photography and to reduce reflections on water and glass.

I use the Hoya 77mm HD CPL filter. I have been unable to find out what the differences are between the HD line and the HRT line. Certainly HD sits above the Pro1 and Pro1-D lines, but I have no idea about the HRT series. The Hoya brochure doesn't even mention the HRT filters....

I'm very happy with mine, having bought it to replace a Pro1-D version which got smashed in a little accident. Certainly it is brighter than my old filter, supporting the claims made in the brochure. Mine came from here....

EDIT : Hmm, judging from the prices it looks like the HD is top of the food chain - http://www.google.co.uk/products?as...s_occt=title&price1=&price2=&show=dd&safe=off, but if you're happy with the HRT then I think you can do better on price.

Hoya HD is best of the best. I've got one too :thumbs:

Edit: Amazon usually hard to beat on price.

I've had one of these ones in the past - only sold as never got round to using it..... Hoya 77mm CPL slim it was slim but iirc its not a PRO1 - but for £49 for a slim cpl cant be that bad & used them (surreyphotography) for quite a few bits & pieces with no problems...
