Hoya filters

Lo. How do Hoya Pro1 filters rate in the filter spectrum. I'm using Hitech resin at the moment, with what seems like good results but I need to add a couple with the prchase of UWA lens. I have read adverse comments about standard Hoya, Cokin etc. but not seen much about the Pro1 series?

Hoya Pro1 are excellent.

Resin filters are about the lowest possible grade without coating. Lee filters square are pain, but there is nothing better for sensible price

Its been a while since I checked now but I believe Pro1 has 4 layer coating with 97% light transmission. Should probably the "minimum" model to buy if you have expensive glass.

Nowadays I just buy their HD models with 99% light transmission. Its said to be much stronger glass and far easier to clean too.

Hoya make various grades of filters, and all of them are good for the price. Pro-1 are excellent, only bettered (very slightly) by their newer HD series with easy-clean coatings and extra tough glass.

I have to be honest, I've had mixed results with Hoya's over the years. Some have been good, some only so-so. Admittedly I have not yet used the HD line. If you have the spare cash, I recommend B+W. Pricey, but well worth it in my view.
