A technical service rep from the US Hoya distributor gave this answer: "In the HMC line, the UV(C) is the replacement for the UV(0). The main difference is that the UV(C) is a slim filter."

But also this
UV(C) = UV is coated onto the glass

UV(0) = UV is built into the glass

It looks like the UV(C) softens the image while the UV(O) retains the sharpness.

They will both degrade your images.
