Hi All

been thinking of buying a new flash as my current one in non HSS and as i shoot mostly motocross and mountain biking i normally need a faster shutter than 1/250.
I have a Nikon D300 body, I would love a SB 910 but cant really justify the money at the moment especially as it will get dragged across muddy MX tracks lol and the SB900 seems to cook its self pretty quickly so i was considering maybe a used SB700 or the new Yongnuo 568 EX. I want it mainly for some fill flash and also for some extra light when in the woods etc to enable me to keep the ISO down a bit. Will be used mostly on the body and some off camera work but also needs plenty of punch for some shots that are a bit further away..

anyone use these flashes or can recommend another model thats powerful and reliable for my kind of work..

Thanks
Harry

Hi Harry.

The 900 would be great - you won't notice an overheating problem unless you're really going for it in machine gun mode at full power...

It is much more powerful than the SB700 which for me, run out of juice very fast and didn't have the power.

For HSS you want something with a lot of punch because it requires more power than in normal modes.

That being said, perhaps for fill flash the SB700 will be sufficient...I'd probably opt for the 900 though personally for reasons mentioned above.
