Can someone confirm that a SIGMA 70-300MM F4-5.6 DG APO MACRO AF NIKON FIT is compatible with my Nikon D50 and is not the D40x fit?

The Nikon mount is the same on all Nikon cameras!

The only difference with the D40/x is that it doesn't have an auto focus motor in the camera

Yeah but if I look on jessops site they have


Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Macro DG (Nikon AF Excluding D40/D40x)


Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro (Nikon AF Including D40/D40x)


£20 price difference but both called the same

Just got this while i was posting, okay so I assume this one will be okay then and give me autofocus on the D50

the cheaper of the 2 will have no motor in it , not needed on a D50..

But will make absolutely no difference on his D50 - Might even be a touch quicker to focus

If the lens has the internal focus motor then it will focus a lot quicker, whatever camera the lens is attached to.
