HX50 vs TZ40 vs XF1 completely stuck..

You could have an XF1 for each hand for that price... :D

ninja camera man!

you keep tempting me with the xf1 haha

do you find yourself ever needing more zoom but restricted to the 4X and how is the screen in very bright sun?

Nope, mine spends most of its time at 25mm and hardly ever go above half way but that just suits my needs and style. I don't struggle with the screen personally and it's only set on normal. I can make it brighter if I want to.

I recently had a play with the TZ60.

I was really impressed.

Wifi was great to use the camera remotely from my phone. Lens apeared quite sharp at most lengths - even at the longest end.

The only thing that stopped me buying one in place of my LX7 was the lack of video settings. It's just point and shoot.

For what ot is though I was veey impressed.

i went for the tz60 in the end love it!

very pocketaable , zoom is very handy and nice and easy to operate .

No controls on the video as you say it a little annoying but the quality is exceptional!

if anyone would like me to test anything just let me know and ill try my best (may be a while though dreaded exam month)

I'd like a few shots!

Any chance of hosting some RAWs of a teddy bear in daylight at the long end of the zoom range with iso below 800??

:)
No problems soon as I get chance I shall do that, do I need to keep appature the same

Hi Phi
You're the best.

Anything you like, I want to see what it's capable of in a real life situation in the conditions I'd use it.

Hi Phil,

hope you having a good weekend, got you a present!

Hope they are okay if not please let me know if i did anything wrong happy to do them again.

Shot at optical zoom in following order20,25,30 At each zoom level in order did ISO 100,200,400,800,1600

so example zoom 20 order was ISO 100,200,400,800,1600.

The first batch are out of camera and the second batch are all raw files (starting at 477) following the same pattern.

They were all shot outside , handheld (i had to squat down so minimal shake)

Really keen to here your thoughts and anyone else ( i have a few days left on the receipt if they are rubbish quality lol)

Had some real issues uploading to flickr timing out so had to dropbox them hope that is okay? There should be button at top to download all, you might need something different to view raw2 but guessing i am telling you how to suck eggs haha :)

The bear was well behaved ;)

Thanks for taking the time to take and upload these Adam, very useful and I think you should start a TZ60 thread hosting them for others!

I think the camera is very useful for many people but the lens is a little soft for my liking. Shame, if I could get a decent level of sharpness from the RAW files then I'd think about buying one... but I don't think I can.

No problem at all thanks for taking a look. Are they generally good quality images? (I don't have much knowledge at all on what is and isn't good image quality yet)

Good idea with the thread will have to do that.

They are acceptable for snaps and for when you want an all in one solution... but fine detail is lacking - as one would expect with such a camera. It is a great bit of kit for days out and holidays... just wouldn't produce my best work on it I think... :)

I was very tempted on the tz60 but testing it i didn't like it i can't remember why i didn't like it so i got the tz 40
oh i have the sony hx50 as well but have another thread up for a problem on the sony

oops sorry didn't see how old that post was just joined today....whoops
