The largest of the flighted parrots, these beautiful, charismatic birds are now sadly classified as 'vulnernable' due primarily to the pet trade and habitat loss.

It's a terrible shame that their numbers in the wild are dwindling.
I watched the pair at the mouth of the nest hole feeding off about a dozen Chestnut-eared Aracari's who were trying to get them away so they could get at the eggs or young.... parrot are not quiet birds at the best of the times, but this caused quite a cacophony!!!
