.. hoped that might get your attention ;)

I have an Epson R800 that has decided to dump ink smudges and marks on my prints. It looks like fluff stuck inside that has got soaked with ink and is 'painting' the paper as it goes through.

Has anyone got any tips for dealing with this i.e. what cleaning agents to use or not use?

(note to self - stop the cats sitting anywhere near printer!)

Thanks
Andy

I had problems with my old Epson printer, went through a lot of ink trying to clean, unblock etc. Eventually took it to a local Epson service centre, who cleaned and flushed everything through with some of there own cleaning tanks, re-inserted mine - worked a treat, seem to remember it not costing much at all - will see if I can dig the receipt out to give you an idea.

Might be worth an enquire

A guy here where I live, Blyth Northumberland, charged me a tenner to empty the waste tank and clean up my R800, well pleased, brill job,
Jim

where i work i some times have to clean printers, we use a printer cleaning spray, and some compressed air, usualy does the trick, both inexpensive 5 quid each maybe, but as jimybell said some guy cleaned it for a tenner, id go for that option

Thanks guys. I was hoping it was something I culd do but it looks like a job best left to professionals so I'll have a look around for one here.

Can't find the receipt, but if you have a look on the web for

"Epson Express" service centres - the shop I used was one of them.

"Epson Express brings technical support into retailers, providing customers with access to free, face-to-face problem assessment and advice from Epson-trained professionals. Depending on the diagnosis, you will benefit from simple trouble-shooting, speedy product repair or even replacement. Each in-store Epson Express Centre will also stock a comprehensive range of retail consumables and accessories to get your printer restocked with ink and paper, or to upgrade it to match your latest printing set-up"

Hope you get it sorted

Thanks for that. For now I have managed to get a clean page by running through a few blanks and blowing some comressed air through. Not sure it will stay clean very long so I think I still need a service.
