Hi,
I was looking around a second hand shop a wee while ago, when I spotted a large, but old Lowepro bag on a shelf at the back. I asked to see it, and the chap told me it was just an old camera which I could have for £small amount. I opened it, and my eyes came out like organ stops!
The bag contained a Canon 1n digital 2000. This is actually the first, all Canon digital camera (it was based on the Canon 1n with a Kodak DCS digital back). It was made for the press, had a 2mp sensor, a 1.6 crop, and a burst rate of 3fps!) It's a heavy beast indeed, but then there was nothing else like it!! If your boss could afford it, they were £22,000!! Yes, £22k!
Not only did the bag contain the camera, but two batteries, charger, mains adaptor, all leads, and the original A4 loose leaf instruction manual.
I paid the shop owner his asking price, and hot footed it home, to see if it worked.
I had to get a PMCIA/CF adaptor, but after charging one of the batteries, and putting on a lens, it did take some pics.
It's output is only very small thumbnails, but unfortunately, you need the original software (which was missing), and a Windows XP computer to view them. The native format is a very early form of RAW, but if you have the software, they can be manipulated as easy as current RAW pics or Jpegs.
The camera is in pretty good condition too. Not quite mint - a few small marks let it down, but I'm guessing it was heavily used, but well looked after.
I don't know how many of these survive, but I'll hazard a guess that there are not many. I guess it's not worth a lot, but 'm keeping it, just in case.
