I cant wait until tuesday. I will be picking up my new Dslr. I am almost certain i will be getting this Sony A390 offer from Jessops as i am already familiar with the alpha models having previously owned an A200 but i had to sell it due to financial reasons. so ive had to make do with a P&S and my phone for my picture taking up until now. I know the A390 is not really a big step up from the A200 but i dont really need anything too advanced as i am still a complete beginner, but i am going to enjoy having the option of live view.
As i said im almost certain im going to get the A390 unless someone here can convince me otherwise.
What are your thoughts guys?

Very good, hope you can contain your excitment for another few days.

If you haven't already, get yourself signed up to Topcashback (see link below) and you can go through their web site to Jessops site, you can reserve to collect (and pay) at store if you wish and you get (I think current rate is) 4% cashback as well from them in a month or so.

i have one and i love it. have you any lenses from when you had the a200 or are you starting from scratch again?

Unfortunately I will be starting from scratch but I only had 2 lens when I had the A200 so not really much to build up on again.

Thanks for that info, I wasn't aware of the cashback offer. As I will be collecting in store I'm glad the offer can also be done this way. I am struggling to contain my excitement. As ever since the A200 was sold I have felt lost without it and now I just can't wait to get back out and start snapping away again.

Yay ive got it. Im now the proud owner of a Sony A390. Nothing special i know, but its all i need for my level of experience. Also included with the camera was a Velbon DF-40 tripod. Now i know this isnt the best tripod in the world as they are giving them away free with the camera, but does anyone know if they are any good at all? It feels quite sturdy but as i know almost next to nothing about tripods i would know what a very sturdy tripod feels like

I am now going to have to start saving for some glass as i only have the 18-70mm kit lens so i will be looking on the forum in the next couple of weeks. I really want to get a 70-300mm and a 50mm as my next purchases.

I cant wait to take some pictures now, im just waiting for the battery to charge up.
