Hehe... don't be!*a-hem....embarrassed to ask*
How do I find out the exif data?
Because they don't want to?....I see some do not fill this in not sure why?
Yep, good point Dave.yeh but OP is asking eg what kit (lens and what ever like filters) and how much PP not just exif
Yep, good point Dave.
I do though feel it would be a little time consuming if people were asked to include details on the PP used for every shot they posted! EXIF can be embedded and posted automatically, but PP details are a little less straightforward to include. I am sure if someone is interested in finding this out for a particular image, then a request in the thread that the OP could reply to would suffice I'm sure.
Yep, you're right... and others tell you that you have got the PP wrong, rather than offer their opinion - when it is entirely subjective.good point , but some people dont like others asking PP details as i found a short while ago
Yea yea - know wall about Exif etc. But life is kind of busier that having to go digging for it all - and as has been said - its easy to exclude it. Just think that it would be good it it was included - even as a small add in at the end of the post. NOT from flashy point of view - just what you used to achieved what you got - thats all
Rog
:bang: if posting exif became mandatory i would not be able to post here anymore:thumbsdown:
i have a rough idea of what i'm trying to achieve and a vague idea of how to make it happen.
and far from it being easy to add my exif and pp, for me it's practically impossible.:shake: i am always tweaking and twiddling and i never make a note of which slider went where or what the exact F# was.
also wouldn't it be better for you to experiment and learn for yourself, you may stumble upon a great combination no-one else has tried before.
otherwise you are just copying everyone else.
exif is automatic I think, so you do not need to manually input this.
Damn it andrew748 beat me to it in a much shorter way![]()
Does that not take a bit of the 'magic' away though? To carry on with that analogy is it not like going to a magic show then being upset that you weren't told how to perform that trick yourself? I

li'm on top off your bookcase hacking your wifi![]()
The thing is as a magician myself (its my work) We do tell other Magician what and how, and we have forums like this as well LOL
Northern Nik - gotta disagree - knowing what was used to create is kind of fundamental to helping people understand what does what and will help people be a better photographer - all part of the equation. I am talking about the tech - not the composition - THAT comes from the soul (Oooo deep!!). I am taking about simple facts - eg: shot on a 50d with a 85 1.2 - Centre cop approx 50%. Simple detail thats all.

Hmmmm... So basically what you are saying to me is just shut up.

Isn't it part of the fun of photography to learn for yourself? If you just copy someone else how to you learn for the future?
Maybe it is just me, but I don't read any photography 'books' - I like to work out for myself how it all fits together and what is pleasing to some people and what other people hate etc. I like to look at a shot and think "hmm if only I had gone for a faster shutter speed" it makes me want to get out there and try again. If I got it all correct the first time and was following someones elses path through photography I would find it insanely boring
Strayed a little from the topic therebut yeah, I won't be including how I processed a shot or what crop I used etc after each shot I post. On the other hand I am more than happy to help someone if they ask. I would show someone how I 'might' processes a shot, or how I might crop it, but I dunno I just find what I do to my photos something slightly more personal than just following how someone else did it, but then again I did learn HDR from using Pete's guide and that helped me get a jump start, but I like to think I have taken my own path and now I read his guide again i don't agree with plenty of it
....so yeah.....think there was a point in that all somewhere. Can you tell I am trying to put off doing some work?![]()
