I have a sigma bigma 50-500 non OS and fancy the OS version

I can only seem to find reviews on each individually nothing that compares the 2. and nothing really that slates the non Os version not having image stabilisation
I have found a dealer with a used one on ebay and have messaged them about a px the reply I received back was a little bit of a surprise " make me an offer "that was it
and I have no idea what to offer
they have the used os version up for 899 but I can get a new grey for not much more
should I just sell my non IS and buy a new OS
what should offer as a px deal
 
ebay item is sold now but I can get new from panamoz for 900 and ffordes have them at 999
or should I just sell it and get the canon 100-400 l

I went from the 400mm to the 50-500 OS and yes it isn't as sharp or the AF as fast although close enough, but throw in versatility and very strong OS and it was the right choice for me.

looked canon 400mm f/5.6L too but the lack of IS concerns me
hence me mentioning the 100-400 IS not a huge price difference imo
the other option is the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS

What did it for me was the fixed focal length - fine sometimes and right for some.
 
I had a Canon 100-400 IS L and I've got a Sigma 150-500 OS, and after a lot of testing and comparing I decided to keep the Sigma and sell the Canon. The IQ of the two was so similar it made no difference, the OS of the Sigma was far better than the Canon IS and the Sigma focussed quicker, specially in failing light.

From what I read the 50-500 OS is a tad sharper than the 150-500 OS and if I had the cash spare I'd probably change the 150-500 to the 50-500 just for the extra width at the short end. I was so happy with the 150-500 that when the wife was looking for a long lens I got her a 120-400 OS and that is equally as good as the 150-500. I bought both the Sigma's from www.panamoz.com as they were great on the price and I got a 3 year warranty with them.
 
thanks for that Stuart all I've got to do then is trade my 50-500 non OS for the OS model
not sure an owner of the OS model would fancy a trade for the non OS model and some cash
can't really find any used dealers with one for a trade

John, yes sold very quickly but it is a mint lens, not so sure I wanted it to sell so fast
I'm feeling the loss now even though I still have it, got to pack it when I get home tonight. I might even shed a tear.
new OS version ordered now onward and upwards
