Oh dear I have been a little disorganised and I have about 5 or 6 hdd with copies of the same photos over and over again, I was wondering does anyone know how I can amalgamate them all or at least go through them and delete repeats without having to do it manually.
Is there any programs out there by any chance?

Have a play with Picasa, helped me organise 5 years of holiday pics etc. Not sure if its any use to you but worth a try.

Take care with your iTunes music if you have the same tracks on albums and CD singles and/or compilations and you like to play the discs in their entirety.

Also, if you delete a file from disk, it'll still appear as a 'ghost' in the iTunes library.

Similar advice with Lightroom, but you may lose some edits if you delete a file from under its database. Though from the OP it sounds like you're not using it.

I hope I'm not stating the obvious here, but I hope you're not trying to reduce yourself to just one copy of each picture. That is - one only - not one original + one copy.
