Yes
I just pulled the trigger and ordered a D700 with the 24-70mm :).....
I should have it on wednesday, so freakin excited, been wanting to go full frame for some time. It was a tough choice between this and the 5D mkii
but decided that the D700 was the one that i wanted.
Just had to share it really.....

Cheers
Joel

Your credit card will love you, but what about the wife/girlfriend :bat:

Fantastic choice of kit!

All you need now is a SB900 and diffuser ;-)

Not sure, didnt think about the wife at the time, was just consumed with lust for the kit :bonk:
Will be hiding the credit card statements for awhile.....

Yeah I did think about a flash but then thought about the high iso capabilities of the camera and decided against it, i prefer natural light anyway and will just use the onboard flash if i need to fill.

Awesome mate - I've been toying with the same idea, hope it works out well for you :)

Yeah, I recently sold my 40D and went to a GF1 but have really missed the feeling of my 40D and despite having good iq the GF1 couldn't really match the 40D with the 85mm 1.8. So decided that if was going to do it then It would have to be full frame. Selling my macbook and GF1 to help finance the deal though, but it should be worth it:)

I have the same combo and you will find the 2 together are a match made in Heaven.
Enjoy

And another SB900 for those off camera strobist shots
A 70-200 f2.8 for that zoom
A grip to make portraits easier
the 12-24 for wide angle
etc. etc.

Congratulations though!

lol @ Mark, how I know that feeling!

I swapped from Canon about 8 weeks ago and I'm loving it!!

Enjoy, after all, you can't take it with you so you may as well enjoy what you work for. :)

I'm sure you'll enjoy the D700. I'm also toying with idea of upgrading to the D700 from my D300 but can't get it past her indoors as I just splashed out on studio lights.

Enjoy and have fun with it.
Mick

Good on you Joel hope to be joining you next week with the same combo:thumbs:

I've been close to asking the bank manager for £3,500 for a few weeks now, I lust after a D700, 24-70 and 70-200, I reckon I could get it all second hand for that with enough for a SB900 maybe.

It's one of those things, I go to bed thinking about it and wake up thinking about it. My wife thinks I'm having an affair :D

I'm still waiting to see if the D700"X" transpires sometime this year + the 16-35mm f/4 VRII and then I'll be in the same 'bankrupt myself' boat.

Sod the credit card. "You're a long time dead", enjoy!!

Just bought the same plus the 70-200 f2.8 and the Nikon grip. So good I've forgotten the hit on the credit card!

Well finally got the chance to get some shots with the D700 and 24-70mm with this decent weather.
Im still getting the hang of this setup as my old setup was a 40D and then went to a GF1 before getting this.
I am loving this bokeh this lens produces as well as the full frame awesomeness!

I went and had a play with one this weekend, boy that 24-70 is a big old lens!

Anyway, I'm completely hooked on it and WILL be getting one very soon, body only though at this stage with the Tamron 28-75 and my 50 1.4 to see me through.

Yea the 24-70mm is bigger and heavier than I thought, but it really does balance nice on the D700. At first I was all most going to go with the 85mm 1.4 and the 50mm 1.4 but then just went "ah, what the hell..Its only money" for some reason my wife doesnt agree, although she does like the camera!

I would have a word with Graham FITP about one of his Nikon eTTL flashes (for under £60), using the built in flash for fill is ok for some lens BUT the 24-70 is quite long and you will end up with "lens eclipse" where part of your subject has a dark semi circle on it as the end of the lens gets in the way of the flash!

I use the D700, 24-70 and SB800 as a unit very regularly and it is brilliant.... Have a watch of the DTown TV series and get some tips :)

Woo Hoo !!

Like Ali I moved from Canon to D700, couldn't afford the 24-70 But got the older 28-70........it's LOVE

I just know you're in Dark Heaven...enjoy

I have the 24-70 and to be honest I wish I had gone for the 70-200 first. I have a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 and having just done a studio session that was on my camera for most of the time. Still the 70-200 will be happening at some point.
