Ive tried everything I can think of, the programs just dont stitch it.

Ive used a 24mm lens, shot every 10degrees and lower, on 4 pitches. Both virtical and horizontal with the camera mounted on right angles when virtical.

Im so totally frustrated and beaten

I'm no expert, but I use a Sigma 8mm, a Nodal Ninja head and PTGUI.
I'm a bit rusty at the moment, not done any for a little while.

I Usually use 4 around, one zenith and one nadir, although you can ignore the nadir if you patch with a mirror ball or limit the viewing angle.

Are you trying to make one of those virtual ones that you move around on your screen, or a flat image covering 360degrees? The latter is easily done in Microsoft ICE, even handheld.

a virtual one, the issue is that its for a very tight space

I've had a play with this before and does good panos, not tried a 360 one yet though.
