Hi All,
I have a Lowepro fastpack 350 ATM. The one below isn't mine, but gives you an example of what the inside looks like for reference. It is a great pack. I use it as my travel pack no matter where I am going or what camera is going with me (or even if none is going). The modular layout in the bottom is great for organizing stuff and the non dedicated space in the top if great for my wife's travel blanket/pillow, a pen for customs, deck of cards, earphones, etc. The computer slot fits an ipad and magazine comfortably.
I have used this pack with my underwater rig and it just barely fit everything in my old system. The housing with dome would fit just like a DSLR is indended. The strobe would be just in front of the lens port like where the front of an attached lens would be. However, I've made two changes which mean things won't fit anymore. I added a second strobe (~4-5"D x 6" H) and I upgraded to a new camera (which has a larger housing by about 1" taller) like the below.
I need to keep it a backpack style as I call this my 'personal item' when traveling. I want to keep a dedicated computer slot/pocket for easy access at security. Ideally there would be easy access for incidentals that doesn't require my getting into the main packing compartments.
So far the ThinkTank Airport Commuter looks like it might all fit. The Airport Accelerator would definitely be big enough. Neither has a separate incidentals place with easy access though. The Tamrac Anvil 27 looks to be big enough and has good organization. The Anvil 23 might work. I don't see anything in Lowepro's lineup that is interesting. What other bags do I need to consider that might meet these specs? All 4 are pretty expensive bags. Are there any less expensive bags that might work?
