I need a new video card

I know Photoshop not bad, but I'm quite all thumbs of hardware...
Recently my computer has lost its motherboard and I was obliged to buy a new one. So I have to buy a new video card, but I don't know what...
(my new motherboard has PCI-E slot)
What kind of a card do you suggest me?

p.s The video card is needed only for PS and not for any more.

cheapest PCI-E card you can find with atleast 256mb should do the job tbh. Unless you do any gaming/3d work? in which case I'd be looking at 4850/4870 job really.
 
I've just recently bought a new Nvidia 1 GB 9600 GT for £80, and for a slightly outdated "budget" card, it is an absolute corker.
I've been able to run Call of Duty 4, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 at very fast frame rates with no slowdowns or stuttering even when things get hectic on screen. I have been through quite a few graphics card and this one is by far the best. I could never afford a "top of the range" card but the 9600 GT behaves just like one.
However, I thought extra RAM would be helpful for general photoshopping and PC stuff rather than a new graphic card?
 
an ati 3450 is the best bang for buck standard editing card at the moment it's about £25 and will do you fine

don't expect anything better than decent 2d from it though, if you're even contemplating games then go for an 8800 or 4850 (but gaming is a whole different kettle of fish that also boils down to your screen resolution)

don't get the 9600 tbh, you can get a 8800GTX for £60

id try the sales section on forums.overclockers.co.uk or ebay, anywhere like that. you won't get it new for less than £75, if at all, because its a discontinued card.
