I need a Tripod, is this any good???

If I was looking for a new tripod and head I'd definately consider it.

I have the 055Pro alloy version with 802 head, a fantastic combo

The bag is pretty immaterial really it's just a bag. :D
 
i really want something with a ballhead and i hear manfrottos are good products, yeah the bag is not needed really but as it comes with the deal i'm seriously thinking about it
 
i have a macro 100 mm, and 250 mm lens at the moment and the basic lens 18-55 which comes with the 550d
 
For the most stable tripod, you need to avoid extending the centre column if you can, at 6ft I'd probably say the Manfrotto 190 are too short, and you'd be better off getting a 055 model.
 
The thing to remember with tripods is they are probably going to be only photographic accessory that you won't change unless it breaks if you buy a good one. Buy a cheap one, or one that doesn't suit you it'll be an exepensive ride until you do spring for a good one.

I'm 6ft, own a 055 series tripod and redsnapper ballhead. Suits me perfectly.

I'd recommened getting a decent 055 series tripod (055XPROB Pro, £115 from Jesops) and the redsnapper ball head (BH-12, £50 IIRC).

Over budget, but only slightly and it'd fit you and last a good while too...
 
I got the Giotto's MTL9351B & MH7001 for under your budget - I'm 6'3 and with my gripped D700 on it & with it fully extended I'd need to stand on a box to see thru the view finder....

It has the angled centre columm as well (like the manfrotto) & also you can turn/reverse it as....

May be worth a look at... Got mine from Warehouse Express....

I have that one. It's a good beginner tripod, it is very lightweight but don't expect it to be the most solid thing in the world as the thinnest leg parts are very thin.
I also have a Manfrotto 055CX PRO4 carbon fibre which is significantly more stable, but around twice the price, and a Gitzo 5541LS which is in another league.
I'd still take the 732cy if I was traveling very light. So if having a very lightweight tripod is your number one priority, then the 732cy is good.
If you can handle some extra weight, you might be better with an aluminium 190 or 055 series.

Absolutely. For somebody 6' tall you really need something that goes up to around 150cm without the central column extended.
