I need a wide angle to replace my sigma 10-20 (nikon)

Hi all,

I've finally got myself a D700, however, the one thing I'll miss (well, I've still got my D300 so not miss as much :p) is a good wide-angle for it. What can people recommend in the wide-angle department, I'm assuming about 15/16mm to compare with what the 10mm is on the D300?

They had a baffling array of lenses at jacobs at lunchtime, so i thought I'd best spend some time finding a decent one instead of just impulse buying something at the shop.

Many thanks

Ah just a note too, i need one where I can use front-filters on them, only just realised that some of these wide fX format lenses don't take front filters! :(

I would recommend the Sigma 12-24 BUT it doesn't take front filters. It is apparently possible to bodge them on using blu-tack (or similar).

Another option is the Nikon 14-24 (albeit at a rather hefty cost!) and I have a feeling that Lee might do a filter holder for that lens.

Final option is (:shudder:) HDR.

I've recently bought the new Nikon 16-35mm. Liking it so far...

Kev.
