Hi,

Right 1st of happy new year everyone :) Here is my problem, I have the nikon 70-200 VRI but I need more reach, so would I be best buying the nikon 300 f4 and use the 1.4x and 1.7x (which I already have) or buy the nikon TC-20E III (if I can hold of one lol) and use it with the 70-200mm. Anyone who has used this combo could give me any info would be great :thumbs:

after research i went for a 300mm f4 and i use the tc1.4 on it some use the 1.7 but i think its pushing it to far.
i keep the tc1.7 for the 70-200
 
Thanks for the reply, but do you know much about the TC20 III, it's make the 70-200 600mm with the crop factor on the D90 and will be good ad it's still a zoom lens, but if I use the 300 f4 with the 1.4x crop factor will be 625mm but with a fixed focal. Between them both which will have the sharper image?!

I use the tc2.0 III regularly on the 70-200mm vrII and the 300mm 2.8. It's been discussed on here a few times now.
The end result is that I'm very impressed with it. It's a cracking converter, a bit expensive, but superb.

thanks, it might be expensive but so is the 300mm f4 and takes up more room in the bag. I think you just made my mind up, do you if any shops have them for sale? As they ate hard to get hold of. :(

The very reason I sold my 200-400mm vr. The 70-200mm now makes a very useable 140-400mm and easier to handhold. :)

:D that's what I have been waiting to hear, could you post a photo using the the 70-200mm with the tc20 III, or a link. Thanks for the info
 
here's a couple. The first one is at 400mm. The second is a heavy crop of a 400mm shot if I remember correctly.
