Well the reason for this purchase was to replace my brilliant little Lumix TZ6. As i do a lot of roaming about in dark dingy locations (haunted location!) i wanted a camera that would be good in low light and with Manual control. The TZ6 is wonderful in good light but pretty pants when it comes to low light situations so a replacement was needed. I finally decided on the Canon G11, S90, Lumix LX3 and the Leica Dlux-4
G11- Have handled one before and was not that impressed but would do well for my needs and i love the manual dials on the top of the camera.
LX3 - Really wonderful camera and a finalist. Lots of superb image examples about the net and i do like the Lumix family.
Dlux-4 - Almost exactly the same as the LX3 but £200 more...i must be mad to spend that on a red dot! (although i had in the past and it had to be returned due to dead pixels)
S90 - Has the same sensor and software as the G11 but in a prettier, smaller body. Images are superb and has fantastic ISO range (80-3200) and low light capabilities. Lots of great images and great reviews about!
So i plumbed for the S90 as the TZ6 replacement. Will be with me Tuesday so i'll do a full report when i have had a play.
