I believe this is the caterpillar of a Scopular Moth (Scopular Perlata I think).
I spotted this in one of our connifers and thought it was a dead twig. Wondering why there would be a dead twig in such a place I took a close look. Turns out It was more than a twig
.
Note the 4 claw like legs at the front and the large foot at the back. It was exceptionally good at gripping on with both the legs and the foot. It's also a silk spinner too but have to say there's a Walrus type look about the head
Length was about an inch.
The first two shots here were taken at 1/200th @ F11, ISO 100
These next two were taken using 3 Extension tubes with a slightly smaller aperture of F13 for increased DoF.
This one isn't quite so good but still an interesting shape image
