Using my 1d over the past few days, And the shutter sound seem's to have changed. its got higher and just sounds a little 'Squeaker' than it use to when i first got it.

Somthing to worry about? I really don't want to pay of and get it replaced. How much even is it for a Classic 1d shutter?
 
The problem should reveal itself at the highest speeds first. If 1/8000s is problematic then it is failing. Otherwise it may just need lubrication, etc.

If it fails, you may instead treat yourself to mk2, mk3 or even 4. And sell it as faulty on ebay

It sounds the same, at all speeds. It shoots fine at 16000 as i was using it a few days ago in some bright sunlight. I hope it just needs lube. There is no way i can afford a Mk2 :( The This mk1 is my baby, and i still cant get over how good it is even though its ten years old now.
 
I think it cost about £170 for the shutter on my mk2 from Fixation. I didn't notice any difference in the noise though, just the black strips across the images.
 
At 200 quid i don't know if its even worth it, I only payed 300 for the whole thing...

I was able to sell a "Sold as seen" 1Dc recently for about £200 on ebay. It worked but had intermittent faults. So you may well be able to sell yours at not too much of a loss.
 
Yeah i hope so, i've seen them go for 500 on ebay with a few batterys and stuff. But i'm just going to have to see how it holds out
