I recently got back some promo shots that were taken years ago. I'd never seen them but got sent them for free, with the instruction that they would usually be about £400.
£400!?!?
Okay, they're decent enough but for that sort of money they're having a laugh! I didn't have to pay this time as they were booked and paid for by the team long ago, but seriously I'm sure many of my tog friends could do just as gooder job as their hobby nevermind a highly overpaid job.
So tog friends, I shall share them with you, opinions on whether or not they're crazy to be asking for so much?

Firsty, if they are not your pictures - and you don't hold the copyright - then you should not be publishing them here - or anywhere else! Can you clarify that point?

If they are promo, then they are for distribution and reproduction... not much point in a promo shot you can't show anyone!

Promo shots or not AWP is kind of right in that TP doesn't allow people to C&C photos when the tog that took them didn't ask for them to C&C'd.

we've had a couple of reports on this thread.

It's been left on the basis that the OP is questioning the value of the images rather than the quality of the images themselves. The value is a perfectly legitimate question. If it gets into a critique of the shots it will be closed down :)

Fine clarifications...

- Promo shots, made to be distributed but were never actually used because I was gone before they were ever needed. They are perfectly fine to be used for any distribution, I have used them before.
- I don't want C&C on the quality of the pictures, I am asking whether that is a price to be expected or whether that price is seriously pushing it.
- Yes, the price is just for those 3.

If they're done by a professional then that's probably the going rate. It's a business not a charity. How long did the shoot take? How many setups? What sort of license would they have issued for £400.

If just for them three shot and charging £400.....Think I will go into business.

If I was actually paying for them, they would be sent straight back

£400 sounds about right TBH...there'll be more than those three taken, for sure, but even that represents a bit of work...
