That's not really a question, more a statement.

I am guessing you are asking why your new DSLR isn't doing the same as the old SLR. I would guess it is set to a single shot mode (don't know how it done with Nikons) and hopefully someone who does know will be along. But have a fiddle with the setting and see if anything mentions single shot or multi-shot.
 
You need to make sure it's in the right mode. Most DSLR's have single shot, multi-shot, timed & bulb. Just make sure you're on the right one...
