This was in the bird water tray yesterday, used the Macro end of my new 15-85 on the 7D

It is caused by the water freezing round the perimeter of the dish forcing the water into the ever decreasing hole in the centre and it just keeps going upwards...... apparently :)

I was say so :thinking:

probably as the snow/water ran down the twig it froze at the bottom forming layers going towards the top.
