Should iOS5 and iCloud add events to iCal?

I don't have a mobile me account, and thats the only thing I can see in the preferences for iCal.

Do you have the latest version of iCal? Under accounts you should find iCloud (providing you've ticked Calendars under iCloud system preferences).

I used to use Google Calendars to sync between iCal and iOS however iCloud has made it so much easier, just make sure all your software is up to date and you should be fine.

Dunno if it's the latest iCal, it says it's version .4.0.4, also can't find an option for accounts in iCal

cheers

Are you on OSX 10.7.2?

I'm on version 5.0.1 on os 10.7.2 and you can access accounts in preferences.

Doesn't sound like you have iCloud activated as a calendar account then. You do that in preferences in iCloud and ensure you enable the calendar part :)

I think it must be the old level of iCal. Also my osx is only 10.6.8 snow leopard

I can set an event on my iPhone and see it on my calendar at iCloud .com

iCloud isn't talking to iCal.

Found the accounts tab and it wants a mobile me address which I don't have :(

Well it won't work then will it, as you need OSX 10.7.2 for iCloud ;) Or there are some rumours it will come with a 10.6.9 update if that ever arrives.

An alternative might be to set up a manual caldav account but to find your guid string you would need a lion machine or developers account to get into your iOS device.

I'm not sure my 24" imac would take Lion :(

Also, some of the software I use is still waiting for a patch to handle Lion, so that's put the brakes on this :D

It it is an C2D then there shouldn't be any problem spec wise, mine run just fine.

Out of interest, what software do you have that doesn't run on Lion?

Lion will run?
Guy in the apple shop said it wouldn't

I use the OnOne photosuite with Cs4 and as yet the on one crashes photoshop and you lose the image completely.

A bit like it did when snow leopard came out :D

As long as it has an intel core 2 duo chip it will be fine, which all the 24" ones do.

I am running it on a 2007 13" macbook and 20" imac. Faster than Snow Leopard as well.

im on a 2.8 core due with 4gb ram, will have a look to see if ON One have developed their patch yet

I take it CS4 and LR2 work ok on lion?
