teleconverter zoom lens.....

what/why/how?

I miss my 70-300mm lens (i have a 70-200 and a 18.55) just want that extra distance....

without spending a fortune can i use this - will it autofocus on a d5000??

thanks :D

I imagine Andrew may be asking re the aperture. I know for Canon, other than the 1D bodies, they will not autofocus past F8.

So a 70-200 f4 is ok with a 1.4x converter but not a 2x.

i honestly have no idea what you mean.

I can take a picture. and make it a good one. but technicalities are a no go :D

do i need the 70-300mm af-s oris there another type of zoom lens i can get cheaper?!

Some lenses will AF with some teleconverters and some won't. Some lenses can't even be fitted to smoe telecons. Best bet is to try before you buy - it may be a little more expensive but the extra expense can be offset against 2 way postage should an internet buy noy be suitable.

You're not the first and won't be the last! :D

I can't comment on specifics as I'm not familiar with the Nikon line-up. You asked if it would keep auto focus with a teleconverter - with Canon this depends on your camera body and the aperture the lens has with the converter attached.

I know it's all complicated at the start, but if you are not clear no things like aperture etc, I'd suggest becoming familiar with that before you buy anything else. It will stop you spending money on something you may not want, and will give you a better understanding of what your current kit can do giving your better pictures.

thanks :D

tbh i may just end up re-buying a 70-300 i just loved it when ihad mine but it was manual focus and my main photos are dogs and horses (so quick needed) so as ive only had my slr 6 months i fugured it wasnt a good motivational factor being manual!

but i might just save up for a 70-300 af-s... :D

then i want a 50mm or 35mm then i want............. :D

I am just about to place an order for a TC for my 70-200 f2.8 VR

After about 6 weeks of researching and asking questions all over the place, the one that everyone is telling to buy is the 1.7x if this helps.

Ian

what does that do ian?

im learning about all this - im just about coping with normal lenses.... but this seems to be like a whole new world to me
