ID MkIII, 7d Mk1 or IDs MkII for backup?

I've done a number of weddings in the past and always had 2 x bodies - one with fast prime and the other with 24-70.

My sister-in-law has asked me to cover hers for her, and I might start to do more in the future, but I unfortunately only have one body right now.

My current thoughts (dictated by budget) are either 1D MkIII or 7D Mk1 with 1Ds MkII as an outside choice for back up to my 5D MkII. I'm a little worried about stepping up to a cropped sensor but the 7D seems to have good reviews.

I would probably have 35mm prime on my 5D with either 50mm or 85mm on the second body (depending on whether i've got 1.6x or 1.3x sensor).

Opinions gratefully received, thanks!

So you're thinking 1Ds mkII is the best of the three? If I can't track one down in budget, which of the other two?

1DIII is far better than 7D. I don't see 1DsII being very expensive these days; just make sure it isn't finished. If it isn't rubbed and scuffed it is a good sign and make sure it can take a clean shot at 1/8000s. However, it is also not good if it had almost no use for years (like it is with cars). We'll that is really applicable to ANY body.

Either 1D* or 1Ds have amazing shutter sounds and look great.

*In silent mode it is almost inaudible.
 
For the price difference I'd go for a 2nd 5d mkII, the benefits of 2 identical bodies is a real draw.
 
That would be nice but the extra £250 required isn't an option at the moment unfortunately.

I think I'd probably rather go the 1d route rather than original 5d. I had a 1d MK ii for a long time so it should be fairly familiar.

I'm surprised the 7d seems to be dismissed out of hand.
