ID photos

Morning all, I have been asked by my manager to take id photos for all the staff in our signal boxes, the photos will then be put on id cards and passes. I am doing this for nothing and in my own time as I am going to use this as practice, but I want to make a good job of it, and I am going into this with 100% commitment.

Im not sure how to begin?? I am going to get a sheet of some sort to give a nice plain backdrop (we don't have any spare empty rooms available, so this will be done within an area of the workfloor) and Im not sure what lens I should use, I want to set up and be able to take all the shots one after the other on the same settings, they will be head shots (maybe head and shoulder, not sure yet) I only have one flash (SB600) the room being used does not have much natural light, so its mainly ceiling lights

And I don't know if I should re-size them or send them to my manager full size and let him send them off to who ever does these passes to let them process all the photos??

So just to recap, if you were doing this project, how would you all set up you cameras, backdrops, what settings and photo sizes would you use etc. etc.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice on this matter

We just had new ID photo’s at work, the ‘studios’ were transit vans. The camera was about 5 feet away no idea about the lens (it was a Nikon) the flash was in one of those fishbowl modifiers camera left and a little higher than the camera. Background was about 2 feet behind an adjustable posing stool. They did 4000 people per van per week which is less than a minute per person!
