Ok heres the story,purchased a grip(meike) from ebay last week all arrived ok and seemed fine.Worked spot on with d300s battery.I then ordered 8 duracell AA lithiums to use for increased fps.These arrived put them in the aa tray but nothing just the dead battery flashing indicator on top lcd! I had power set to use mb-d10 first and correct selection of battery in the menu.Contacted seller he said he had no spare trays but could send from Hong Kong but would take 3 weeks or more..not impressed with that I asked if I returned the grip could he send a replacement grip out.He then replied saying to keep the aa tray and he will refund me £9 back.Not overly happy but saw a enel4a on classifieds here so thought I would buy that and try the bl3 adaptor that came with the grip and if that worked would accept his refund as would have no need for aa tray with the el4a battery.Just connected that up and the same thing is happening,camera wont power up at all and flashing battery icon on top lcd:bang: Am I missing something or do I need to change any other settings or is it just a duff grip?..Have contacted seller and asked for full refund now as I am rather peeved to say the least.Is the return postage down to me or should the seller cover this?

Yep had hoped the el4a would work though as it looks like it connects in the same place as the d300s battery tray within the grip.Think I will just go for a nikon grip and be done with it.

Is the e4 fully charged Stuart?
 
Yes mate..showing 100% with all the green lights on.Also tried 8 other brand new aa in the aa tray and they never worked either..:|
 
Hmmm, sounds like a duff grip then mate.

I have two meikes, D300 and D700, never used the AA trays, but if the e4 runs out then they both show the same flashing light.

Could be worth seeing if it works if you take the e3 out of the camera, just to see if anything happens then.
 
:shake:Nope just the dead battery icon again on top lcd.
 
I didn`t think the Nikon branded batteries would fit in the Meike grips with the meike BL3? Other than that,out of ideas then mate sorry.

Both of mine have never swapped from grip to camera when the e4 runs out.I either swap e4s or take the grip off. The e4s last that long it has never been a problem.

Anyway,sounds like a duff grip.
 
Yeah the bl3 is for attaching to the el4 for the grip..(I believe anyway)
 
It is Stuart. I may be wrong, but I think the non Nikon BL3s are different in length to the official Nikon ones, they only work properly with aftermarket batteries.

Could be wrong on that, but it is jumping out of the back of my head that I read it somewhere.
 
mmm interesting?..The battery I received from classifieds from Ian has a non nikon bl3 and I presumed he used this ok with his mb-d10,will have to ask him.Its also a slightly different shape to the meike bl3 and doesnt fit the meike grip.Just hoping his one fits a genuine grip
 
Hope it gets sorted Stuart.

I have used meike grips,meike bl3s and 7 day shop el4s for years now, never had any issues.
 
Yeah me too gutted and bit disheartened at the mo.:shake: That coupled with the fact the ebay seller only responds at 3am is making it hard work to try and resolve:lol:
 
Unfortunately returning the grip is at your expense unless the seller wants to be nice.

Yeah just checked his returns policy and saw that.First time ever used ebay and have to say its been a right royal pain up the backside!:lol: Think I might dust off the credit card and go to srs and get a nikon one later
 
Also pretty new to ebay but can I demand refund rather than a replacement?.Cant handle this grief again.
 
Sorted grabbed myself an mb-d10..it does feel a lot nicer and better made but I will say there isnt as much in it as I would have thought for the price difference The meike is so similar once you have them side by side.If my meike wasnt faulty and had the choice of either have to say for the money would choose the meike.Gutted I got a bad one but never mind.
