Looking to replace my Canon EF-S 18-55 with another budget lens for general photography. I have been offered the 28-105 for quite a reasonable price? Is it any good and do we have any other options for under £100 ? Must get a lens the camera came into cntact with sand and its screwed!

If its the one i am looking at its sadly over my budget at £175 and i think its sold - but cheers!

Depends which model it is, canon made 2 versions.......

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Lens 2000
Canon EF 28-105mm f/4.0-5.6 USM Lens 2002

The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Lens 2000 is a good lens. The Canon EF 28-105mm f/4.0-5.6 USM Lens 2002 is a very basic lens and doesn't rate very highly. As for options under £100, have a look at 2nd hand market, but your choices are limited.

https://secure.ffordes.com/index.htm 2 sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX lenses for £129
