There are endless debates about equipment quality, this YouTube made things a little clearer to me ...

True, there's plenty of other stuff that make a good studio shoot, and many were utilised here; but the point is, you can improvise

The olympus bit made me giggle.

Great video, watched the lot and really enjoyed it.

Now if only I had an iPhone so I could take great shots... hehe.

Exactly, an iPhone, a super hot model, and all that studio gear; who needs skills :baby:

You did see how that camera was mounted on the tripod , it was fraking stuck on to the handle of the ball-head :bang:

I'm amazed he got any sharp shots at all with a touchscreen, every time he pressed the "shutter" the whole phone moved....

I am inclined to think that should he blow-up the image to any usable size, then, we'd see how sharp / not-so-sharp the images really are

Not to forget, there's been a good amount of PP done to all the images .. how much did they change form their original form is anyone's guess.

lol i'm gonna shoot with the worst possible camera ever...an olympus SLR!

I'll happily sit aside and wait for the Olympus gang to chew your behind for this :p

Any camera, 4-5 studio lights, a space and a decent moddill...

...it's all down to the lighting at the end of the day...

Hehe...

Naaaah, I'm not gonna bite because, as demonstrated below, we all know that Olympus cameras and Olympus lenses are not at all capable of producing anywhere near decent model shots, are they...?

hehe.... I must try this with my iPhone though. :)

ummm...well on the strength of #2 and #3...

...no...

#1 is good though...

hmmm...blown highlights and a lack of depth in #2 and #3 - you might 'like' them, but they're not the images I'd be using to illustrate the technical superiority of any particular brand of camera...

If you'd left it at #1, i'd be in full agreement though - because that's lovely...

All intentional though, it's exactly what the client wanted... :) bright, and shallow DoF.

These aren't the client images though, these are my daughter and her friend who came with me on the shoot.

I agree that the shoulder is bright in #3, but there's absolutely no blown highlights in the 3rd (haven't checked the 2nd one). Nothing that Lightroom3 picks up anyhow.

And just to put you back in place... here's two more without shallow DoF etc (though because it's Oly I am sure you or someone else will soon nit-pick!!) :)

If I had to choose a phone to shoot with it would have to be the N8 http://vimeo.com/11266224 :p

Problem with all these things as already mentioned is that they look fine on the internet, blow them up to A4 and print them out and... Ah, there goes the quality...

Having said that the latest generation of (mostly smart) phones have upped their game recently, with the iPhone4 being the latest one to join them, the X10 and Vivas area apparently "superb" as well.
