Goodness, it's Ian Beale's double! :D ;)
But being serious now, I can actually see how this photo worked. I see a man who is bursting with pride. Chest puffed out and that very pleased looking smile.
So I think it's a very good capture. :) The only thing I MIGHT be tempted to do is to give it a quick sharpen, or I could leave it as it is as it looks like a classic indoors studio shot.

Yes it does have that feeling about it LOL. A nice studio portrait, although I think I would give it a light sharpen (maybe even just the eyes).
 
is the background meant to be white with blue patches. If it is then tha ok but if not a quick edit might help.

Yes, I have several of the old style ' classic ' BG's. I do love the blue one ***. [Its my favourite] who says that?
