As the title says, looking for a short (20-30mm ish) prime, must be fast (f2.0 minimum, f1.4 preferred) Budget isnt a huge issue, but I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. I love my 50 f1.8 but it's a little long for many situations and I'm looking for something fast and wide for a walkabout when in towns/cities in the evening etc.... Any recommendations? Oh and I'm shooting on a crop, 7D.

SO far the Sigma 30mm f1.4EX DC is what I'm looking at most seriously, any opinions on this?
 
The sigma is a brilliant lens. I loved the 30mm I had an amazing one that I sometimes wished I had never sold.
It's a great value lens with amazing picture quality.
 
Thanks for that, I'm slightly reluctant to go for a Sigma, I've heard many things regarding focusing not being spot on, but how much of that is hearsay I don't know. This lens seems perfect though, very fast, good length, I just hope its optically brilliant.
 
Not used the Sigma but it sounds ideal for what you want - just make sure you buy new or from a reputed used dealer so if you're not happy back it goes.
 
the canon 24 f1.4 mk2 if money is no object or the 35mm f1.4. the sigma 30 f1.4 is also a very good lens. I had no problem with it on my 40D. DOF is so small a that aperture that you'll miss focus with the canon L's too.
