Im looking to upgrade my camera!

Hey guys I'm new here =]

Right now I have a basic nikon d40, I have started a Ba(hons) photography course and would like to upgrade this camera but am unsure what to go for...

I'd like to stick to nikon as I have a couple of lenses, and since I am a student there isn't a lot of money to be had! so no d700's please

Im thinking maximum of about £700? I won't be getting it straight away, need time to save up!

D90 is the obvious choice for that budget. Plus you'd have change.
Maybe a second hand D7000 in a few months when they start to come onto the 2nd hand market. Maybe even a new one. Depends on the time scale involved really.

Is there any REAL reason you actually need to upgrade?

The Nikon D40 may be a bit lacking when it comes to modern cameras but 6MP can still give very good pics.

You should be able to pick up a s/h D300 for that sort of budget.

d300, will have one for sale soon in mint condition with 2500 shutters for around £700.

D300 got me through my degree well! Will be a good camera for quite some time. It's in another class from the d40
