Earlier I saw a used D700 on Amazon for £1400 that wasnt there yesterday. I was just about to go for it, and my bloody internet connection dropped out. (Thanks Virgin, glad to see my £40 a month is well spent :bang: )
I got my iphone out straight away and went on amazon through my 3g connection, and the flippin thing had gone..

The internet has come back on now so I was just browsing ebay and saw another just listed for £1400 BIN. I logged into my online bank to check I had the funds, switched back to Ebay and some numpty has put in a bid for 99p and the BIN has dissapeared...

Arrgh! :bonk::bonk:

if you email the seller saying you want to buy it at the £1400 he could cancel the bid so you could buy it.

Have done, and he has just replied, although now the camera has been taken down already, so not sure if someone got there before me?

Worth a try but he might have done it the wrong way and will relist it,anyway hope you get it.

Hmm, its relisted but £2 more.

if it was me i would ask for a number, give him a ring and arrange a cash sale, saving him fees and you getting it a bit cheaper:thumbs:.
ps i'm not selling it:lol:

:-D dont have the cash though, has to be on credit card cos my Canon stuff hasnt all sold yet.
I can pick it up fine as Im in the place he lives a lot for work, but I cant pay him cash.
He hasnt replied yet... My finger is twitching. I asked a couple of questions I'd like to know the answer to before going ahead.

Ta, plenty more fish in the sea though if I dont.

I noticed several sold on ebay last week for well under £1400. As soon as I want one they all shoot up in price!

This is taking the biscuit..

The seller replied, and relisted the item with the the lower price we agreed, I have bought it but now Paypal is buggering around and wont let me pay for it. Keeps timing out and throwing up errors. Why cant things just be easy and simple?

You'll get there in the end, clear your temp files i find this helps when i have prods with paypal playing up.OH and congratulation.

Thanks :-) ... According to twitter, its broken. has been for a while.

The canon gods are obviously punishing you for daring to go back to nikon lol

Must be that yeah... Prooves Nikon is better, because I didnt have any trouble going the other way. The Nikon Gods were gracious and understanding, fully aware I'd come crawling back for mercy. :help:

Working on it, either a 24-70, or 28-70 if I cant afford a 24-70.
There is a 80-200 ending on the bay soon aswell which I might have a punt at.

May have a result. The guy I bought the camera off has just listed a 24-70 too. Email sent to him, hopefully he replies soon. If not, then Ive been pointed in the direction of camera world that have some refurbs for £999 with waranty.

Seems that your doing well in the return to "Nikon"

Is a MB-D10 gonna be on the agenda

Not for the forseeable future no. Its not on my list of prorities. I had a grip for my D200 and very rarely used it TBH.

I'd rather spend the money towards another lens. I still need to get a macro if I have any money left after this lot.

Almost :-)

Once Ive sold the rest of the Canon gear, Ill be ok, its just in the meantime.

Bonus!! Just got confirmation of my cashback from quidco for the D700. Last few times Ive used ebay through Quidco it hasnt worked.
An extra £14 to add to the lens pot!

just wondering if ebay and paypal are worth the hassle they appear to be

Well Ive just bagged a D700 for £1400 and got £14 cashback, plus Im fully protected should the item be faulty, damaged or not turn up at all. So yes, I'd say its worth it.

Obviously there are issues from time to time, and Ive had my fair share of Ebay and/or paypal mucking me around, but most of the time its relatively smooth.

when you are playing around with £1400 , terms like 'mucking me around' and 'relatively smooth' are not things i would want to be messing with :nono:

So what have you got left to sell Canon wise then Tom I sort of loose track on the threads when there is more thn one item on.

70-200 f4L Is, the 50D and a 100mm f/2.8L macro left to go.

Well put it this way, I must have spent well over £30K on ebay on all sorts of things, from cars to cameras and Ive never lost a penny.

Oh, and I bought that 24-70mm the guy was selling for less than he wanted originally.
